What they don't always know is that the book isn't just a project. It's a portal. A moment of becoming. And getting there requires more than a writing process — it requires someone who can hold the vision when you can't, and guide you through the layers that sit between you and the page.
That's the work I was born to do.
What it took to get here
The Karoo desert.
AfrikaBurn.
Africa's version of Burning Man. Thousands of people, massive sculptures, the kind of place where something in you tends to crack open.
I was sitting in our RV with my partner Ofer, breastfeeding my youngest, Kiana. She was one year old. I was looking out the window at my two older kids, Kai and Gaia, riding their bikes through the dust. Free and happy.
And then I heard it. Not like a thought. Like a voice. Very clear.
"Let go of your business."
I was completely shocked. I had built this business from my garage into a seven-figure company. But the voice didn't stop.
Let go. Let go. Let go.
That evening, we gathered around one of the main burns. A huge statue of a woman, set alight. You could hear the wood cracking, smell it. Beautiful starry sky above us.
And I had this realization: the artist didn't create this for the final result. Because the final result is gone. So what drove him? Who he became in the process.
Maybe those seven years of building my business were never about the business. Maybe they were always about who I became. And in that moment, I chose courage.
Two days later, I flew to Johannesburg with Kiana on my lap and sold my 50% share to my brother. The same business we built together from nothing.

Four years.
Eight countries.
One family on the road.
Ofer and I made another decision. If we now have the time and the resources, we're going to travel with our kids.
We packed up the house, sold the cars, rented it out. And we left. We thought it would be a year. It became four.
India. Thailand. Bali. Peru. Standing at Machu Picchu, one of the wonders of the world — you can feel something there. It stays with you.
But this wasn't just travel. I knew I was going into healing. My childhood had a lot in it. Saving my mother's life when I was little. Abuse. Leaving home at ten. There was a lot that needed to be processed. And I wanted to be the best mother I could be for my kids. That meant doing the work I had been putting off.
Two and a half years
in the jungle.
For almost two and a half years, my family and I lived in an eco-community in the jungle in Costa Rica called Pachamama. I immersed myself fully: healing, plant medicine ceremonies, silent retreats, yoga teacher training, breathwork facilitation.
And when I say jungle, I mean jungle.
Our home was open to the outside. Nature was just part of everyday life. Hummingbirds. Bright blue butterflies passing by you. Monkeys in the trees. Mango trees, coconut trees, ylang-ylang trees all around us. Just alive.
And at night, a completely different world. Owls. All the jungle sounds. Sometimes armadillos passing through. You don't sleep the same there, because you're so aware you're part of something much bigger.
That's where the real transformation happened. Not just healing old wounds, but something deeper: learning to decode my own life. To read the thread running through every experience, every loss, every leap of courage. To understand what my soul had been trying to tell me all along.
Again and again, I met parts of myself I hadn't fully seen before. And something really opened in me during that time.
Everyone said
"You should write a book."
Eventually, we came back. My son told me he felt like he was missing out on formal education, and I listened. We enrolled him in school and began building a new life.
And when I came back, everyone kept telling me the same thing: "You should write a book."
The truth is, I always knew I would. But when I actually sat down to do it, I felt completely overwhelmed. I didn't know where to start. How to structure it. How to make sense of everything I had lived.
So I went deep into the rabbit hole. YouTube videos. Courses. I spent thousands of dollars and three years trying to figure it out. Three years.
And then I entered a writing competition and won one of the top places. That opened the door to a traditional publisher, who loved my story but wanted me to reshape my memoir into self-help. After three years of truth-telling, I wasn't willing to do that.
Another publisher came along. And he said yes. He walked with me through the entire process for a full year. He supported me. Held me accountable. Guided me through every part of it.
And that's where I understood something that changed everything: writing a book is not meant to be done alone.
He finished high school with seven distinctions and is now studying law. I took him to the most alternative life I could imagine, and he bounced straight back into the most traditional career path possible. LOL.

This book won a place in a writing competition and opened the door to traditional publishing. It became the foundation of everything I now teach.

The RISE Method was born from over a decade of inner work, healing, leadership, and writing. It's the system I use to guide established experts through the process of turning their lived wisdom into a book that transforms both reader and writer.
